Key Responsibilities
A Drafting Designer’s responsibilities include:
- Performing, dimensioning and design work on all types of machinery and associated components for the creation of as-built drawings and engineering
- Assisting Inspection Technicians with field inspections when required
- Preparing fabrication and as-built drawings using AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D software in accordance with CAD standards
- Applying engineering methods to understand and resolve design issues
- Providing drafting support and assistance to other engineering team members
- Performing field measurements and sketches
- Aiding engineering and administrative personnel
- Furthering personal knowledge by becoming familiar with all standard steel, concrete, and timber material specifications; weld symbols; and applicable codes and standards
