Our History

Kova Engineering Ltd.’s story began in 1989 in Edmonton, Alberta with three founding members. We have been providing exceptional Engineering and Inspection services for over 30 years which has allowed us to become the leader in our industry. Kova has built The Crane Certification Bureau™ which has set the standard for crane inspection and certification across Canada.

Today, we are not just a crane certification company.  We bring excellence and integrity to various other industries and provide inspection, certification, and engineering for a wide variety of vehicles, equipment, and machinery. We focus on providing consistent service whether local, national, or international. Our head offices in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario assist our remote branches in providing resources, training, and support to ensure we provide a consistent service to all our clients.

We acquired Servo Aerospace and now have an Aerospace division out of the Vancouver office that comes with over 20 years’ experience and is a Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO 84-18). At Kova, we provide a wide range of services to our clients that include: weld inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT), equipment inspections, refining structural maintenance programs, managing inspection intervals and timelines, Transport Canada approved Aerospace NDT AMO, failure analysis, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, metallurgical engineering, and more.

We’re excited to announce that as of December 6, 2024, Kova Engineering is part of Industrial Inspection & Analysis ®. Focused on story-worthy service and customer satisfaction for customers needing industrial inspections and certifications, Industrial Inspection & Analysis (IIA) closely aligns with our dedication to customer service and industry expertise. Kova’s addition to IIA increases our ability to service you quickly through our combined 15 offices across Canada, making IIA the largest third-party lift inspection company in North America. Kova’s Greatest asset – Our People

Kova Engineering employs 50+ NDT technicians as well as a full Engineering and Administrative staff to ensure our clients’ needs are met in a timely manner.

Certification and safety

We are a certified welding inspection organization with the Canadian Welding Bureau (CSA W178.1). Our technicians hold certifications in various inspection methods including, but not limited to:

  • CSA W178.1 and CSA W178-2, CWB Level I, II, and III visual welding inspectors
  • AWS certified visual inspectors
  • CGSB Magnetic Particle inspectors
  • CGSB Ultrasonic Testing inspectors
  • CGSB Liquid Penetrant inspectors
  • Dielectric Testing technicians
  • SCCIP Concrete Pump Inspectors
  • Aerospace (AMO 84-18)

Our dedicated team of inspectors work closely with an equally competent and committed team of Engineers who are licensed to consult in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Yukon, and North West Territories.

Safety is of the utmost importance to everyone at Kova. We are COR certified with the Alberta Construction Safety Association due to our ongoing commitment to occupational health and safety. We are working towards COR certification in all other provinces.
